Sara Blakely

Issue #4

Hello Tiny Maverick 👋

Today, I'm going to share a story about how Sara Blakely turned her love of fashion into a billion-dollar company!

Sara Blakely is a really smart, tiny maverick who made something amazing.

She wanted to wear underwear that was more comfortable.

So she decided to invent her own special design by styling and cutting her own clothes.

Her friends loved her idea too!

Before long, Sara used her own money to start a company called Spanx.

She didn't have any help from other people, and she didn't spend a lot of money on advertising.

Instead, she traveled all over the United States to meet with store owners and show them how great her product was.

Then one day, a very famous lady named Oprah Winfrey talked about Spanx on her TV show.

Everyone wanted to buy them after that!

Sara became very successful, and she even appeared on a TV show with a famous tiny maverick named Richard Branson.

Sara is a really kind person too.

She gave money to a foundation to help other women become entrepreneurs.

Her company grew and grew, and it was worth over a billion dollars! That’s a lot of money to fit inside a piggy bank!

Sara Blakely is an inspiration to all girls.

She worked hard and didn't give up, and she made something very special that helps lots of women feel great!
